Does the non-profit organize volunteer projects for Jackson Bottom?

No. The City of Hillsboro coordinates all volunteers at Jackson Bottom. Please contact the City of Hillsboro to learn more about their robust volunteer program.

How can I contact the board directly and where is it located?

The most reliable method is via U.S. mail at PO Box 3552, Hillsboro, OR 97123. The board does have an email address (jbwpreserve@gmail.com), but it is only checked semi-monthly.

How is the non-profit involved with education programs at Jackson Bottom?

The non-profit greatly supports education programs at Jackson Bottom. One recent example is our contribution (both financial and volunteer hours) to the new exhibit hall.

How is the non-profit involved with the wetlands?

The non-profit greatly supports the restoration work in the wetlands. We are a committed part of the joint partnership that works on wetland restoration projects with the common goal of connecting water, wildlife, and people. We contribute funding to support specific projects.

Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is a 635-acre wildlife preserve located within the city limits of Hillsboro, Oregon. It is open to the public and is a great place for hiking, bird watching and viewing wildlife in its natural habitat. The Education Center is also a great resource for learning and research. What’s In Season

Winter — The wetlands are in flood, providing a place for excess runoff from the Tualatin River. Migrating birds such as Northern Pintail, Ring-Necked Duck, Green-winged Teal, Canvasback and American Wigeon can be found in abundance. Birds of prey such as Bald Eagle, Red-Tailed Hawk, Red-shouldered hawk, Cooper’s Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, American Kestrel and Northern Harrier can be spotted.  Wintering song birds such as Golden-crowned Sparrow frequent the feeders.

The survival of the wetlands is a result of a remarkable partnership between individuals,
businesses and government agencies who see the wetlands as an irreplaceable community asset.
