Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is a 635-acre wildlife preserve located within the city limits of Hillsboro, Oregon. It is open to the public and is a great place for hiking, bird watching and viewing wildlife in its natural habitat. The Education Center is also a great resource for learning and research. What’s In Season

Fall – The wetlands are as dry as they will get as we await the fall rains due in October or November. Rosehips glow bright red, the willows turn a soft yellow before losing their leaves and we await the sound of arrival of Cackling Geese in late September. Reptiles enjoy the last warm days before winter hibernation and amphibians such as Red-skinned Newts and Red-legged Frogs begin their travels to the wetter areas with the first rains.

The survival of the wetlands is a result of a remarkable partnership between individuals,
businesses and government agencies who see the wetlands as an irreplaceable community asset.
